Eid Gifts Distribution Ceremony

On the occasion of Eidul Azha a ceremony was jointly organised by Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum and Anjuman Faizul Islam (AFI) to distribute Eid gifts here, says a press release.

Addressing the ceremony at AFI, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Dashgin Shikarov has said the deep rooted ties between the Muslim brothers of Pakistan and Azerbaijan will be made more friendly and stronger through the cooperation in uplifting social sector.

Gifts comprising on clothes and shoes for orphan students of AFI were distributed on behalf of first lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, who is also the president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Goodwill Ambassador of Unesco and Isesco. Members of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Begum Najma Hameed, Nuzhat Sadiq, Professor Saeeda Iqbal, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, President Anjuman Faizul Islam Mian Mohammad Siddique Akbar, Iftikhar Ullah Babar, Professor Aziz Ahmed Hashmi, Professor Niaz Erfan, President of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum Mohammad Asif Noor, members of AFI and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dashgin Shikarov greeted participants and children on behalf of first lady and people of Azerbaijan on Eidul Azha. He spoke about ties and shared values of two nations that bring the Muslims of Azerbaijan and Pakistan together.

Dashgin Shikarov briefed participants about the activities of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Azerbaijan and other countries of the world. He noted that the foundation had implemented number of healthcare, education and humanitarian projects in all districts of Pakistan as well.

Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah, while addressing on the occasion, said the cordial relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan would be strengthen more through the exchange of experiences in social sector uplift. ''Pakistani people have great respect for the people of Azerbaijan and having good relations with all countries is the basic goal of Pakistan’s foreign policy'', he added.

While addressing to the participants, President of Anjuman Faizul Islam Mian Mohammad Siddique Akbar presented a brief history of AFI and said the AFI had been rendering marvelous services with regard to give residential and educational facilities to the orphans. He mentioned that AFI was established in 1943 on the desire of father of the nation and since that it had been run successfully merely on the donations of philanthropists. ''We induce in the children such values and true spirit of Islam that they can grow as true Muslims and useful members of the society.

Professor Saeeda Iqbal, Nuzhat Sadiq and Iftikhar Ullah Babar also spoke on the occasion. Later on, the ambassador and other guests also distributed gifts among the orphan students of educational institutions of AFI on behalf of first lady. Ambassador also handed over sacrificial goats to the administration of AFI.
