Question

My mother suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and this disease is inherent to her. She always feels that there are some people abuse her with bad words and I believe that those people are from the neighbors and relatives.

I have tried to convince her that she suffers from a disease, but I could not, what should I do with her? May Allah reward you the best!

Answer

Dear valued brother, welcome to Alukah Network.

I ask Allah the Almighty to heal your mother and protect her from every evil.

According to your description, your mother is not suffering from an obsessive-compulsive disorder, but she suffers from another psychological disease which is completely different.

What I want you to do is to visit a psychiatrist as soon as possible, and tell him about the symptoms experienced by your mother even if she refuses to go with you.

The doctor may give you a medication to add to food or drink in the first period until she finds its positive effect after two or three weeks and she becomes convinced by its effectiveness and accepts to take it naturally and continuously.

Be close to her all the time and try to be pleased with her and please her because she is the only way to success and winning in this world and in the Hereafter.
