The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) paid great attention to rear his Companions, and that rearing was a rehabilitation for them to do special missions in Jihad and other situations.

When he chose someone for a mission, it meant that he was capable of doing that mission as should in a way that will be beneficial to the religion.

The venerable Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) gave perfect examples for these missions and the books of biography are full of these missions; of them are the following:

When it was the Battle of the Trench, `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) brought some news that the Jews had breached the covenant. If that piece of news had been circulated among the Companions, it would have affected the Companions badly, therefore the Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded Him to conceal the news and sent Az-Zubayr to make sure of the news.

When Az-Zubayr came back and confirmed the narration of `Umar, the Prophet (peace be upon him) praised him by saying: "Every prophet had a disciple and my disciple is Az-Zubayr." Then he sent Sa`d ibn `Ubadah and Sa`d ibn Mu`adh for more confirmation and said to them: When you come back with the news, do not spread the news among the Companions so as not to cause chaos in their souls. When they came back, they said to the Prophet (peace be upon him) that the Jews had breached the covenant.

In the same Battle, he called on the army to send a man to the enemy's lines and bring their news. It was a very cold night, so no one volunteered to the mission.

Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) chose Hudhayfah ibn Al Yaman to do the mission and asked him to bring their news and do not let the infidels see him.

Hudhayfah said: I walked as if I was walking in a warm place. Then he sneaked to the enemy's camp. Hudhayfah said: I was near Abu Sufyan, and I was about to get out an arrow and shoot him, but I remembered the will of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

Abu Sufyan felt that something was not right in the camp, so he announced to the people: Let everyman be sure of his fellow. Hudhayfah thought quickly and initiated the one who was near him by asking: Who are you? He said: So and so. Hudhayfah said: I told him to keep quiet.

This indicated the brilliance and discernment of Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) and the good choice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to those who do special missions.

What I want to say is: Islamic movement should rear its individuals well and to choose the people who do special missions which if they are not successful, the harm will afflict the Islamic Call in general. Furthermore, the nervous and hasty-decision people should be excluded from these missions because the Islamic movement suffer from those who -by their rushness, nervousness, and oppression- wasted many benefits for the Islamic Call, and if individuals were well-chosen, that would not have happened.

Allah is the One who guides to the Straight Path.
