Muslim Community offers Free Food in Aberdeen

The Muslim community in Aberdeen plans to hand out freshly-cooked Asian meals to help the city's homeless or anyone suffering hardship.

Community organisation Aberdeen Muslims has been planning Foodbox after an earlier partnership with Aberdeen Cyrenians raised more than £5,000.

Foodbox will initially be held on the last Wednesday of every month at St Nicholas Square from 18:30 to 19:30.

Project manager Maaruf Razzak said: "Nobody should be hungry."

He explained: "Foodbox is more than just providing for the homeless, it is about providing food for anyone that does not have dinner on their table."

"We welcome people from all faiths and backgrounds to come and see us. Food brings people together; we want to give our fellow Aberdonians that are facing hardship not just a filling meal, but a tasty one."
