“Say: ‘Come, I will rehearse what Allah has (really) prohibited you from’: join not anything with Him: Be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want. We provide sustenance for you and for them. Come not nigh to indecent deeds, whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah has made sacred, except by way of justice and law. Thus does He command you, that you may learn wisdom.” (Qur’an, Surah Al-An’am, 6: 151)

“Kill not your children for fear of want. We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin.” (Qur’an, Surah Al-Isra’, 17: 31)

Narrated ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him): “I heard An-Numan bin Bashir... Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) said: ‘Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children....’” (Reported by Bukhari, Vol. 1 Hadeeth 52)

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) the wife of Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) said: “A woman came to me along with her two daughters. She asked me for (charity) but she found nothing with me except one date, so I gave her that. She accepted it and then divided it between her two daughters and herself ate nothing out of that. She then got up and went out, and so did her two daughters. Allah’s Messenger visited me and I narrated to him her story. There upon Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) said: “He who is involved (in the responsibility) of bringing up) daughters, and he accords benevolent treatment towards them, there would be protection for him against Hell-Fire.”(Reported by Muslim, Vol. 4 Hadeeth 6362)

Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying: “He who brought up two girls properly till they grew up, he and I would come (together very closely) on the Day of Resurrection.” and he interlaced his fingers (for explaining the point of nearness between him and that person). (Reported by Muslim, Vol. 4 Hadeeth 6364)
