Kosovo .. How did the big dream turn to reality?!

When a person dreams and his dream comes to be true, there is no doubt that his dream will become the focus of his talks during the coming few days.

How would he feel if he sees this dream daily, moreover he sees it for years, both in dream and in reality, then it becomes true.

How would be the case if that dream is seen by many people! Let us imagine what would be the case if more than two million people see the same dream in one specific spot and in specific time! Let me clarify things for you; when this dream is repeated for many generations and is seen by millions then suddenly it becomes true for the current generation in the day of independence.

Then, it became a big dream and reality for the current generation on the day of declaration of independence unilaterally.

On Sunday, February 17, 2008 at three O'clock, all people in Kosovo, old and young, on all political, religious, and intellectual levels saw the big dream becoming true and saw that the entire world would compete to admit its independence and its just cause except for few.

I was with them on the night of independence declaration, and I saw all people celebrating. Heavy snows and cold did not stop them from going out to streets for hours late at night to express their joy. Their joy was overwhelming to the extent that some of them were crying of joy; smiles and congratulations did not leave them and did not leave those who came to share that great celebration. Albanian flags were raised beside some other flags, which politically and military supported them, most of which were the flags of USA, EU, and other European countries.

I have not seen peaceful and regulated celebrations for a whole nation without an organization supervising them. I have not seen or heard about a commitment or regulation of an entire nation as I saw them when they abided by all instructions given to them by politicians with all love and respect. When you see an entire nation- despite its political, religious, and intellectual differences- agree, cooperate, and undertake to achieve the biggest dream: No doubt, you shall respect those people and respect them.

I was with them days before the declaration of independence. All the people were talking about independence, nations, and the peoples which will support them; all people were waiting, following, and analyzing carefully the talks and data of politicians.

I shall not forget when satellite channels declared that Prime Minister Hashim Thaci will state on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:00 pm some information about the official declaration of independence: At that time, everything stopped to watch the news, and streets became almost empty.

As for Sunday 17, 2008 and the moment of declaration, speak about as you wish. Those celebrations reminded me with sports games, however the difference is great because all people in Kosovo were winners and everybody was happy. I will not forget to mention that Muslims of Kosovo make up 95% Muslims and has more than 650 masjids. Notwithstanding, people perform the Friday Salah outside masjids because of the number of people where they have no other place despite the flowing drops of snow and the severe cold.
