King of Perlis Urges Muslims to Preserve Sanctity of Islam

KANGAR - The King of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail has urged all Muslims to play a role in preserving the sanctity and supremacy of Islam in the wake of various challenges faced by Muslims lately.

He said there were groups in the country practicing faith that went against the teachings of the 'sunnah wal-jemaah' and this would have serious impact on Muslims if it was not addressed immediately.

"All those involved must give serious attention to face the threat so that it will not continue to spread and eventually confuse the Muslims themselves including in performing the prayers and observing the fasting month," the Ruler said.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said this when opening the Darul Ibadah Mosque in Padang Behor, near here last night as part of the programmes to celebrate his 71st birthday anniversary on May 17.

Also present were the King Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, King Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and King Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Menteri Besar, Azlan Man and his wife, Nor Aswana Omar were also present.
