PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s transformation into a high-income nation will be based on wasatiyyah (moderation) and maqasid shariah (objective of Islamic principles) as the core principles of the administration, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“Based on this, we will continue to be consistent istiqamah (steadfastness) and work towards developing our beloved country,” he said in his Maulidur Rasul message posted on his blog yesterday.
The Prime Minister said a community cannot be defined by just one race that stays in a particular area but also by those from other races and areas.
“When they live in harmony, they will become one ummah (Muslim community). The feeling of oneness will be the core of the spirit of brotherhood and Muslim unity.
“At the same time, unity is the main strength and dignity of the community,” he said.
He also urged Muslims to learn from the huge sacrifices made by Prophet Muhammad and his companions in upholding the Islamic principles and building the ummah.
“Strengthening unity is among the major traditions (sunnah) left behind by the Prophet for us all.”
