When the last ten days of Ramadan come, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to tighten his loincloth (as a metaphor for exerting efforts in worship), perform Salah all the night, and keep his family awake for Salah."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to work hard these ten days in a way that he never exerted elsewhere as was reported in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Um Salamah, the Mother of the believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) who said: "No one of his family who was able to observe fasting but observe Qiyam-ul-Layl."

These ten days have a virtue that motivates a reasonable person to obtain more high goals, and sublime ends. The Prophet (peace be upon him) granted that night its special right by alerting his power and energies to benefit from that night.

If there is nothing in these ten days but Laylat-ul-Qadr (the Night of Decree), it will be enough hope for the losers and the wish to righteous people.

People should investigate Laylat-ul-Qadr each night during the last ten days as if it is the intended night, who knows? Perhaps, they can find it and win a great happiness, double rewards, worship, and closeness to the Compassionate, the Most Merciful for it equates one thousand month. Allah (may He be Exalted) says in Surat Al Qadr: "Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). * And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? * The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). * Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabriel)] by Allâh's Permission with all Decrees, * (All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn." [Surat Al Qadr: 1 - 5].

It is noticeable that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not live this case alone, but associated along with him from his household every one could endure it.

It indicates the lessons we should learn from the school of prophethood while we live the classes of Ramadan school, which include:

First, the love of goodness for others. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) loved goodness to himself, he used to love it to others.

Second, feeling responsibility toward one's household before all people.

Third, not to scorn vigor or belittle others. So, the child who is able to fast is able to perform Qiyam to make him feel his high status in our sights and to get used to excellency of affairs.

All these examples contain a lesson for time management which international scientific circles care for today under the term of "Management of one minute".

This lesson is: Advancing the most important to the less important or what is so-called (Taking into account priorities).

If a person can win only in one night the reward he can earn in eighty three years, should not he free himself from everything and focus on that night to win that reward?!

Indeed, negligence in making use of these ten days means losing one of the most important chances in the world. So, we should not waste it in futile shopping, distracting sleeping, or useless assemblies, but we should all act to make good use of the most valuable days in our life.

There are honorable nights and great chances; would we be of those who make use of them?

Yes, we shall be of those who make good use of them, for we are able and have high vigors.

[Ponder over]

Allah (may He be Exalted) says in Surat Al Qadr: "Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree)." [Surat Al Qadr: 1].

Allah (Glory be to Him) asked them in Surat Al `Alaq to read and learn, then came Surat Al Qadr to show the greatness of Allah's Book which is recited as an act of worship and Allah revealed in a blessed night as being an important source of learning and knowing Allah (may He be Exalted). Allah says: "Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree)." [Surat Al Qadr: 1].

[A message]

Do not forget our dead Muslim brothers and sisters.

[A pause]

Time is the most valuable thing and the quickest to pass.
