Although I do not know more information about the current problem, I think that his persistence that you speak to your father's relative and make it a priority for him and more important than anything else, this is weird and a negative mark undoubtedly.

If I were in your shoe, I would have searched for a wise person in the family to consult him and I would have stuck to your father's opinion because he has more experience and keener to the interests of his daughter, moreover I would have stopped talking to that person no matter what it costs.
