The Resurrection (3)

Is the first blow soon or far away?

It is very soon and it is getting closer and closer to our current day, may Allah protect us. It is for you to ponder how close it is by pondering upon this Hadith:

The Hadith of Abu Sa`id Al Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “How can I be comfortable when the one with the horn is holding it in his lips and his forehead is leaning forward, waiting to be given permission to blow?" The Muslims said: "So what should we say, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Say:

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ، تَوَكَّلْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّنَا

“'Allah is sufficient for us and what a good protector He is. We rely upon [our Lord] Allah”[1]

The first blow is called: The blow of shock

Allah Almighty has said:

{ وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاء اللَّهُ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُم قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُون }

“And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on.” [Al Zumur: 68]

It is also called “Al Rajifa” because the second blow is: “Al Radifa”, which is the blow for resurrection. Allah Almighty said:

{يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ * تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ}

“On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation]. There will follow it the subsequent [one].” [Al Naziat: 6-7]

The first blow is also called: “Al Sayha.” Allah Almighty says:

{ مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ }

“They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.” [Yasin: 49]

Also, the second blow is called: “Al Sayha.” Allah Almighty says:

{إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ }

“It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.” [Yasin: 53]

[1] Narrated by Ahmad number (11039). Narrated by At-Tirmidhy number (3243). He said it’s an authentic Hadith. Al Albany mentioned it in Al Sahiha. Look at: Al Silsila Al Sahiha (3/66). Hadith (1079)
