Lying is the companion of lewdness:

Of the misfortune of lying to the liar is that it is the companion of lewdness, the means to achieve it, and the way which delivers to it, and lewdness is the way to Hell-Fire.

Awsat ibn Isma`il ibn Awsat Al Bujaly reported that he heard Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood up on the first year then cried and said: I enjoin you to be truthful, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man may continue to tell the truth and endeavor to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as truthful. And beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man may continue to tell lies and endeavor to tell lies, until he is recorded with Allah as a liar."[1]

Abandoning lying is one of the causes of success in attaining Paradise:

If a person abandons lying for the sake of Allah (may He be Exalted), does not break his promises, does not betray if he is entrusted, lowers his gaze and abstains from fornication, and stops his evil from people -We ask Allah to make us from those people,- the Prophet (peace be upon him) guarantees Paradise for him.

Mu`awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "Guarantee six things for me, and I shall guarantee Paradise for you, these are: If you speak, do not lie; if you promise, do not break your promise; if you are entrusted, do not betray; lower your gaze, protect your private parts, and stop your evil from people."[2]

`Ubadah ibn As-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Guarantee six things for me and I guarantee Paradise for you, these are: If you speak, be truthful; keep your words if you promise; render your deposits if you are entrusted; protect your private parts; lower your gaze; and stop your evil."[3]

[3] Reported by Imam Ahmad, Hadith No. 22166 and Al Bayhaqy in As-Sunan in the book of deposits, chapter on Hadiths reported on exhortation to the fulfillment of deposits, Hadith No. 11874 ‏ , and the book of branches of faith, chapter on guarding one's tongue (from obscene language), Hadith No. 4599 ‏ with authentic chain of narration.
