Are the Internet, Computer, magazines, and newspapers from the means of receiving knowledge?

Praise be to Allah and peace be upon His Messenger, family, and his Companions.

Knowledge is received by all legal means such as: Observation, meditation, forethought,  experiment, acquiring knowledge from sheikhs by listening, studying from books, newspapers, magazines, from masjids, universities, schools, the Internet, audio and video tapes, and even by feeling. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "And Allâh has brought you out from the wombs of your mothers while you know nothing. And He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts that you might give thanks (to Allâh)." [Surat An-Nahl: 78].

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "And he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy and leading to Paradise for him." [Reported by Muslim 2699].

So, the means of receiving knowledge are not Tawqifiyyah (bound by a religious text and not amenable to personal opinion) according to the consensus of scholars.

So, each mean by which knowledge is received is included in the previous Prophetic Hadith.

Likewise all means of receiving knowledge do not need a religious text to declare its permissibility because the origin is permissibility and forbiddance needs a proof; for example, the means of Jihad (struggle), the means of performing Hajj to Makkah, and the means of calculating Zakah and dividing inheritance.

At the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) there were no schools or universities rather than the moden means such as prints, audios, and videos.

Scholars and knowledge seekers have benefited throughout history from every modern means, moreover the knowledge of the Shari`ah is more entitled to teach and benefit from by any means.

May Allah guide the questioner to things that He loves.
