Do TV channels take part of your schedule during Ramadan?

Thieves of Ramadan.. Who are they? They are satellite channels, and what do you know about satellite channels?

Satellite channels are working day and night, in full swing, to distract people from the goal for which they were created, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, to distract people from the goal of fasting, namely piety, which is the fruit for which fasting was ordained. Allah says: “O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fast) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious).” [Surat Al Baqarah: 183]. Satellite channels —were and still— exerting efforts during this month, the season of charity, good deeds, and charitable acts to prevent people from benefitting from this month. Therefore, a group of people —if not the majority— are wasting their time before the screen instead of establishing the ties of kinship or visit patients.

Instead of making Ramadan an opportunity to do more acts of worship and asking for forgiveness, they (i.e., satellite channels) made it an opportunity to present series and sins. But what is the opinion of others about the series which satellite channels present during Ramadan?

Do they have a share of their time during Ramadan?

We had an interview with (someone) who said: They do not have a place in my annual agendas. In short, it is wasting of time and above all watching it is a sin, Allah forbid!

Arwa (20 years) said: I used to follow them and they had a share of my time, but a year ago, I have not followed anything and I felt the difference. Ramadan without series is better where you feel a sense of spirituality; may Allah guide Muslim girls.

Um Mu`adh said: Channels think that Ramadan is an opportunity to view new series and movies to attract the people to television. Their main goal is to distract people from obedience. It actually takes some of my time, but it is possible to abandon them during Ramadan and watching them some other time because channels are reviewing these serials in the future so that you do not miss the reward of this blessed month.

Shuruq agreed with her saying: You can free yourself during this month for worship because they review these series later.

Rima (27 years) said: Ramadan is a month of worship, and it is reasonable not to waste this opportunity that may not be repeated the next year.

We should benefit from every second of Ramadan in invoking Allah, performing Salah, reciting the Qur’an, prostrating to the Lord of the worlds, and abandoning television and markets; we should dedicate our efforts during this month for obeying Allah.

Amal said: I do not watch serials, but which attracts me is foreign movies because their theme ends in one episode.

Asma’ said: I have left following-up series 4 Ramadans ago for two reasons:

1- A person mentality becomes more open when staying away from channels.

2- All that are displayed have become consumed, namely, reviewing old ideas with a new cast. Indeed, the time for real series has gone and their interest is focused on material income and the proof to that is the ads that they are spent for that purpose.

Wafa’ said: There are channels which present different recitations of many Sheikhs which you can follow during this month.

People's opinions have differed in regard of watch or not watching series. Some said: it is essential and take some time, whereas others objected the idea not in Ramadan nor in some time because the Lord of Ramadan is the Lord of all months. Other said that series do not have a share of their times, but they sought the purposive series that are reviewed in oriented channels (with none-presence of women) because they are viewed in spare time and do not take a long time.

Finally:

People are divided into 3 types:

1- A type which is better after Ramadan, which is the best, because they gained the goal of fasting which is piety and that is a sign for the acceptance of their work.

2- A type is better during Ramadan than the rest of the year, and those are like the one who cut her spin after she had woven it.

3- A type spends Ramadan like other months with no effect.

Which type of people do you like to be?

As-Salamu Alaykum
Actually, we have this kind of problem here in USA, where TV shows take much time of our schedule during Ramadan. Jewish media try their best to distract Muslims from this great and blessed month of Ramadan. I ask every Muslim to beware and do not indulge in these trivial TV shows and focus only on benefiting from every moment in this Month. May Allah reward you all.
