Hypocrisy is rebelling against the natural disposition which Allah implanted in humans because hypocrites always change their sayings, actions, and behavior according to the change of their whims. This change becomes evident in their language even if they try to hide it. Allah (may He be Exalted) said: "But surely, you will know them by the tone of their speech!" [Surat Muhammad: 30]. i.e., You shall know them from their twisted speech style and their oppression. Their tongues are sharp and their hearts are ruined as Allah (may He be Exalted) said: "And of mankind there is he whose speech may please you (O Muhammad peace be upon him)." [Surat Al Baqarah: 204].

What is hidden in their hearts shall become evident in the slips of their tongues, for tongues are mirrors of hearts which reflect the goodness and the evil of hearts, and whoever conceals something in his heart shall be embodied in his language as the saying goes: "What lies hidden in you shall surely appear on your tongue." (See: Tafsir Ibn `Ajibah, Azh-Zhilal, and As-Sa`dy).

The method of hypocrites is the disappointment of the believers and trying to direct people away from them, therefore the the Glorious Qur'an warned against taking them as friends. Allah (may He be Exalted) said: "O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitânah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed, We have made plain to you the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses) if you understand." [Surat Al `Imran: 118].

It is a perfect image embodies the secrets of souls and shapes, recording inner feelings, apparent emotions, and the regular movements, recording unrepeated human model in every time and place which is showing intimacy to Muslims during their power and Muslims are deceived by them while they want to stir rivalries and spread chaos in them. Moreover, they do not save effort to trouble Muslims by every possible means and plot against them day and night. [Fi Zhilal Al Qur'an 442/1].

The odor of hypocrisy becomes apparent in the middle of crises to the extent that hypocrites describe the promise of Allah, His Messenger, and His Shari`ah as fancies so that they would spread despair in the hearts of the believers so as to submit to reality and subject to their enemies. Allah (Glory be to Him) warned His Righteous Servants against the plans of hypocrites by exposing their inner intentions in the slips of their tongues. Allah (may He be Exalted) said: "And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease (of doubts) said: Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) promised us nothing but delusions!" [Surat Al Ahzab: 12].

As-Suddy reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was digging Al Khandaq (the Trench) to deter the confederates. When he was digging with his mattock, it fell on a hard rock and sparks were spread out of it like fires in the sky. He hit again and the same sparks spread again. He hit the third and the same happened. Salman saw those sparks and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Have you seen what happened by every hit? Salman said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. Thereupon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: White cities, the palaces of Rome, and the cities of Yemen shall be opened for you. Salman said: The news spread among the Prophet's Companions and spoke about it. Thereupon, a man from the Ansar called "Qushayr ibn Mut`ab" or others said "Qushayr ibn `Ady Al Ansary from Al Aws" said: Muhammad has promised us to open the cities of Yemen, the palaces of Rome, and the white cities while we cannot go to bathrooms; by Allah, this is arrogance. So, Allah revealed the following Ayah.

As for the believers who were shaken severely, and the Confederates and hypocrites conspired against them said: "And when the believers saw AlAhzab (the Confederates), they said: This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him) had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him) had spoken the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allah)." [Surat Al Ahzab: 22].

Their connection with Allah and their firm confidence were not interrupted; therefore the end of the Surah was achieved when its beginning was achieved. Hence, the believers changed their shaky feeling into a cause for victory because they believed in the promise of Allah (Glory be to Him): "Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allâh?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allâh is near!" [Surat Al Baqarah: 214]. (Fi Zhilal Al Qur'an 62/6).

Of the language of hypocrites is the slander of the righteous, describing them of false descriptions. Ibn Jarir, Ibn Abu Hatim, Abu Ash-Shaykh, and Ibn Mardawayh reported on the authority of `Abdullah ibn `Umar who said: "A man said in the battle of Tabuk: We have not seen like our reciters: They do not seek the lust of their stomaches, their tongues do not tell lies, and they are not coward in the battlefield. A man from among them said: You are a liar, you are a hypocrite, and I shall inform the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). When the news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the Qur'an descended, `Abdullah said: I saw him tied by the rope by which the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was tied while stones were falling on him and he was saying: O Messenger of Allah, we were speaking and playing. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: "Say: "Was it at Allâh (Exalted and Sublime), and His Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger (peace be upon him) that you were mocking?"" [Surat At-Tawbah: 65]."

From the previous proofs, we note that hypocrites anciently and recently wanted to destroy Islam and Muslims, therefore they have tried hard through their lying media to change facts to decieve people so as to show the honest people in the image of traitors and destroyers, and calim that they are the only ones keen to protect the interest of the country. "they come to you swearing by Allâh, "We meant no more than goodwill and conciliation!"" [Surat An-Nisa': 62].

The important point was stressed by the Qur'an where it warned people from following these false claims, Allah said: "And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peace-makers." * Verily, they are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not."" [Surat Al Baqarah: 11 - 12].
