Honored and humiliated people on the Day of Judgment (1)

Translated by: Alamgeer Usmani.

Praise belongs to Allah, we praise Him, and we ask Him for help and forgiveness. We seek protection in Allah from the malice of our souls, and the evil of our actions. Whom Allah guides, no one can lead him astray, and whom He makes astray, no one can lead him back to the right path. I bear witness that there is no other deity but Allah alone who has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger.

“O you who believed! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except as Muslims.” (Aali ‘Imran 3:102)

“O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from a single soul, and from it, He created its match, and spread many men and women from the two. Fear Allah in Whose name you ask each other (for your rights), and fear (the violation of the rights of) the womb-relations. Surely, Allah is watchful of you." (Al-Nisa:01).

“O you who believe, fear Allah and speak in straightforward words. If you do so, Allah will correct your deeds for your benefit, and forgive your sins for you. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger achieves a great success”. (Al-Ahzab:70-71).

To proceed,

Brothers in faith:

Our Lord has frequently mentioned the Day of Resurrection in His Book, and described it by various qualities, like: the Last Day, the Day of Resurrection, the Day of Exodus, the Day of Decision, the Day of Judgment, the Day of Remorse, the Day of Eternity, the Day of Reckoning, the Day of Approaching horror, the Day of Gathering, the Day of Encounter, The Day of Threatening, the Day of Mutual calling, the Day of Loss and Gain, and He called it the Hour, the Striking Event, the Deafening Noise, the Imminent Event, and the Overwhelming Event.

Al-Qurtubi said: “Everything which has great importance, has multiple attributes and names… Then he said: When the case of the Day of Resurrection is great and it has multiple horribleness, Allah Almighty, in his book, named this day with many names and described it with many qualities.”

Brothers in Islam:

We will mention what creates the love and fear upon hearing; the state of the honorable believers on that great day and the state of the tormented ones from the disobedient Muslims.

There will be a group of the servants of Allah – may Allah make us and our loved ones among them – which will not panic, when people will panic and will not grieve when people will grieve. They are the friends of the Most Merciful. They believed in Allah and obeyed Him preparing themselves for that day. Allah will make them free from worries on that day. And the time, they will resurrect from the graves, the angels of the Most Merciful will receive them, and their hearts will be reassured.

“As for those for whom the good (news) from Us has come earlier, they will be kept far away from it.They will not hear the slightest of its sound, and they will remain forever in what their souls desire. They shall not be grieved by the Biggest Panic, and the angels shall receive them (saying), “This is your day that you had been promised”.

On that day, the friends of the Most Merciful will be called for the sake of reassurance of hem.

“To whom it will be said) “O my servants, there is no fear for you today, nor will you grieve_ O those (servants) who believed in Our signs, and remained obedient”.

And the secret - and Allah knows best - in this assurance what Allah the Almighty will bestow upon His pious servants is that their hearts were filled with fear of Allah in the world. Allah the Almighty has narrated their words:

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْماً عَبُوساً قَمْطَرِيراً * فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُوراً [الإنسان:10، 11]

“In fact, we are fearful of a day, from the side of our Lord, that will be frowning, extremely malignant. “So, Allah will save them from the evil of that day, and will grant them bloom and delight”.

And it is reported in a hadith Qudsi: “By My Honor, I don’t combine on My servant two fears and two safeties, if he fears Me in the world then I shall give him safety on the Day of Resurrection, and if he remains fearless and considers himself to be safe from Me in the world then I shall put on him fear on the Day of Resurrection.” Authenticated by Albani.

The more faithful and monotheistic the servant, the more secure he will be on the Day of Resurrection.

The Bukhari and Muslim narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) that when this verse was revealed:" It is those who believe and confound not their belief with wrongdoing" (vi. 82), the Companions of the Messenger of Allah wore greatly perturbed. They said: Who amongst us (is so fortunate) that he does not wrong himself? Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remarked: It does not mean that which you presume It implies that which Luqman said to his son: O my son, do not associate anything with Allah, for indeed it is the gravest wrongdoing.

Among the prospects of dignity on the Day of Resurrection are the people whom Allah will put under His shade. When people will be in a horrible condition under the harsh glare of the sun suffering from a great calamity, there will be a group of believers in the shade of the Throne of the Most Merciful who will not be suffering from the calamities what others suffering from, as the Messenger of Allah PBUH told us: "Allah will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but His. (These seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the worship of Allah (i.e. worships Allah sincerely from childhood), a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the mosque in congregation), two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity), and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears." Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

“Being under the shade” is not limited to the seven mentioned above, as it is mentioned in the book written by Ibn Hajar names “Marifatul-khisalil musillati ila al-zilal”.

Among these characteristics is to grant respite to an indigent or to alleviate it for him, as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever grants respite to an indigent or alleviates it for him, Allah will shade him on the Day of Judgement under His Throne, a Day in which there is no shade except His shade”. Narrated by Muslim.

Oh Allah, protect us on the Day of Resurrection, Oh Allah, keep us in the shade of Your Throne on the Day of Judgment. Seek forgiveness from Allah that He is Forgiving.

Second Sermon

Praise be to Allah alone, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Prophet and His servant, and upon his family and companions.

After that, The condition of the servants on the Day of Resurrection won’t the same. Some Muslims have committed sins that cause them to face horrors, hardships, and punishment.

Among them are people about whom the Prophet PBUH said that those who do not pay zakat, will face various sever punishment as it came in the hadiths that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “If Allah gives a person wealth and he does not pay Zakah on it, his wealth will appear to him on the Day of Resurrection as a bald-heated Shuja'a with two dots above its eyes. It will take hold of the corners of his mouth on the Day of Resurrection and will say: 'I am your wealth; I am your hoarded treasure.' The he recited this verse:

“Those who withhold in miserliness what Allah has given them out of His grace should not take it as good for them. Instead, it is bad for them. They shall be forced, on the Doomsday, to put on what they withheld, as iron-collars round their necks. To Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth. Allah is All-Aware of what you do”.

Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

According to Muslim: If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him; these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them. Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment is pronounced among servants, and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell”.

Servants of Allah:

And among those who will be punished on that day is: the arrogant. Because the arrogance is a major crime in the law of Allah, and Allah hates the arrogant very much. And when Allah will raise the servants, the arrogant will be gathered in a humiliating condition as it is recorded in the hadith: "The proud will be gathered on the Day of Judgement resembling tiny particles in the image of men. They will be covered with humiliation everywhere, they will be dragged into a prison in Hell called Bulas, submerged in the Fire of Fires, drinking the drippings of the people of the Fire, filled with derangement." Narrated by Ahmad and Timizi and authenticated by Albani.

“Tiny particles” are the small ants about which people do not care, they tread on it with their feet without realizing, and it is narrated in Sahih Muslim: “Three (are the persons) with whom Allah would neither speak, nor would He absolve them on the Day of Resurrection, and mentioned among them “the proud destitute”.

Allah also hates the names of the arrogant who name themselves with the names of arrogant.

Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The most awful (meanest) name in Allah's sight is (that of) a man calling himself king of kings."

And Muslim added in a narration: “There is no king but Allah, the Exalted and Glorious”.

Al-Qadi Iyaz said: “Akhna’ means the most humiliating of the names.” Ibn Battal said: If the name is the most humiliating then the one who is called by it will be the most humiliated”.

Honorable people:

We heard something about the condition of the pious people on the day of judgment and something about the condition of the disobedient. We ask Allah for the means of His mercy and forgiveness, the benefit of every good deed and safety from all sins and success in paradise and the salvation from the fire. Then send peace and salutation...
