The Glorious Qur'an is the honor of this nation

Truly, the Glorious Qur'an is the honor and pride of this nation. Has not Allah (Glory be to Him) confirmed this in His Saying: "And verily, this (the Qur'ân) is indeed a Reminder for you (O Muhammad peace be upon him) and your people (Quraish people, or your followers), and you will be questioned (about it)"?

It is a book that had no example and will never have, but it combined the virtues of all previous books and more, therefore it has become dominant to other scriptures. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad peace be upon him) the Book (this Qur'ân) in truth, confirming the Scripture (Books) that came before it and Muhaiminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures)."

It is a great book that is characterized by abundant number of characteristics and attributes such as the following:

• Blessed: Allah says: "(This is) a Book (the Qur'ân) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember."

• Detailed: Allah says: "[Say (O Muhammad peace be upon him)] Shall I seek a judge other than Allâh while it is He Who has sent down to you the Book (The Qur'ân), explained in detail."

• Confirming the previous scriptures: Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "And this Qur'ân is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allâh (Lord of the heavens and the earth), but it is a confirmation of (the revelation) which was before it [i.e. the Taurât (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel)], and a full explanation of the Book (i.e. the laws decreed for mankind) -wherein there is no doubt- from the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn, and all that exists)."

• Guidance and mercy: Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Certainly, We have brought them a Book (the Qur'ân) which We have explained in detail with knowledge, a guidance and a mercy to a people who believe."

• Clarification for everything: Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur'an) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allâh as Muslims)."

• It was sent down for contemplation: Allah (Exalted be He) says: "(This is) a Book (the Qur'ân) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember."

• It was sent down to rule: Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Surely, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad peace be upon him) the Book (this Qur'ân) in truth that you might judge between men by that which Allâh has shown you (i.e. has taught you through Divine Revelation)."

• It is precise without having any difference or defect. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Do they not then consider the Qur'ân carefully? Had it been from other than Allâh, they would surely have found therein many a contradiction."

Besides other characteristics that distinguished it from other books which Allah revealed in order to be a light and guidance to the nation and to bring it out from darkness with all its forms to light.

It drives the nation from the darkness of doubt to certainty, from ignorance to knowledge, from polytheism to monotheism, from oppression and tyranny to justice and equity, from loving oneself to the loving of people, and from the following of whims to the worship of Allah, the Lord of all worlds, to achieve the complete following to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to leave out whims in order to achieve the real happiness. Allah (Glory be to Him) says: "Whoever works righteousness (whether male or female) while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islâmic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)."

I want to say:

This great book which has all these characteristics, attributes, and more contains the words of Allah which He revealed to the best of His Creation and the noblest of His Prophets to establish the glory of this nation and fix the curves of its building as well as make it a witness over other nations.

It is the only weapon by which the nation achieves victory, it is the only key through which it enters history, and it is the only light which it can use to light the way. That exactly what happened to the formers of this nation who knew the Qur'an and its high status and use it to destroy the thrones of tyrants and falsehood. During its rule, people lived happily ever after like brothers and lovers, by which they established mercy, worshipped Allah, and sought His Pleasure, and that was confirmed in Allah' Saying: "Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allâh. And those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking Bounty from Allâh and (His) Good Pleasure."

When these meanings were lost, the result became as we witness today in the weak conditions of the nation, the extinction of its light from which it drives ideas and principles, and eating from other nations' banquets. It has become led by other nations when it ignored the book of its Lord and the Sunnah of its Prophet; this is the way of Allah which cannot be altered. "That is so because Allâh will never change a grace which He has bestowed on a people until they change what is in their ownselves. And verily, Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower."

Nevertheless, a ray of hope has begun to loom in the horizon that the nation will one day come back to its glory and dignity, emerging from this good country which preserved the Glorious Qur'an and spread it all over the globe, so Allah granted it stability for that and provided it with bounties and favors.

Every person must praise Allah for being in a country that is ruled by the Glorious Qur'an, follow its guidance, and take it as a constitution, whereas many people are deprived of that blessing. The annual contest which is being held for memorizing the Qur'an is the best proof to its care and interest in the Qur'an, and no wonder that the country has been established on the guidance of the Qur'an, so it combined both the spiritual aspect as well as the material.

What expected is: It will be a start for the reformation of the nation's reality to follow its track so that the entire nation would live happily in this world as well in the Hereafter which is not impossible for Allah.
