Growing concern among Muslim parents about education of kids: O P Kohli

State Governor O P Kohli has expressed satisfaction over the growing awareness among Muslims about the importance of higher education .

He has called upon students community to not just run after professional degrees for earning money, but also evolve themselves into better human beings by acquiring basic human values .

Addressing a function, organized by the Ahmedabad Welfare Society, a local voluntary organization, to confer prizes on around 500 meritorious Muslim students of arts, commerce and science stream at Thakorebhai Desai Hall here on Sunday, he greeted them for “not just on personal success, but for the future possibility of their achievements proving useful to the entire nation ”.

 “It may or may not be true that Muslims are way behind in education field, but the picture is changing definitely for better, and Muslims have started realizing that they can’t afford to remain behind others. It is heartening that there is growing concern among Muslim parents about the future of their children’s education. It is a welcome sign,” he said .

He said there was no doubt that education was responsibility of the state, but warned that sole dependence on the Government for providing quality education would strain government resources, which could impact its other equally important priorities in other sectors .
