Of their traces

Fileds of women's freedom

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful: "(Remember) when the wife of ‘Imrân said: “O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your Place of worship), so accept this from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.” * Then when she gave birth to her [child Maryam (Mary)], she said: “O my Lord! I have given birth to a female child,” - and Allâh knew better what she brought forth, - “And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Maryam (Mary), and I seek refuge with You (Allâh) for her and for her offspring from Shaitân (Satan), the outcast.” * So her Lord (Allâh) accepted her with goodly acceptance. He made her grow in a good manner and put her under the care of Zakariyâ (Zechariah). Every time he entered Al-Mihrâb to (visit) her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: “O Maryam (Mary)! From where have you got this?” She said, “This is from Allâh.” Verily, Allâh provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit.” * At that time Zakariyâ (Zechariah) invoked his Lord, saying: “O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.”" [Surat Al `Imran: 35-38].

May Allah praise the woman who said: "And the male is not like the female." because there is no comparison, preference, and equation, but each one of them is a separate entity worthy of respect and appreciation. The pious woman of `Imran was lucky because she was chosen by Allah (Glory be to Him). During her pregnancy, "She dedicated the child in her belly for Allah" as Allah (Glory be to Him) says. She dedicated the child in her belly for the service of Allah and she hoped that the child would be a boy. However, when she saw that the child was a girl, she said: a female is not like a male, namely, the boy she hoped for is not like the girl she was given, as the author of Tanwir Al Hawalik mentioned in his commentary on the Ayah. According to her, freedom was of a high status, therefore, she made it for her expected baby; so she freed him before it is begotten. She hoped that the baby would be a boy but when she begot a girl, she was afraid that her dedication would not be accepted. However, the One who listens and knows her conditions (i.e., Allah) accepted the dedication in the best manner.

Was that dedication an expression of her gratitude to the All-Giver, who gifted her offspring after long despair or just dedicating the baby for freedom of worship was the best thing that she ever aimed to in her life?

The surprise of the Great Almighty was that freedom was given to a female instead of a male. Thus, Mary was the first woman to hold the Medal of Freedom and enjoy her sweet freedom. That was the freedom of the worshiper as said by the author of "Al Mu`jam Al wafy Li Kalimat Al Qur'an" of As-Sayyid Muhammad `Atris, who said: "The expression of absolute freedom is expressive because no one is truly freed unless he flees to Allah and get rid of slavery for anyone or anything, so worship cannot be but to Allah alone."

It is obvious that slavery is not synonymous for worship. Virgin Mary (may Allah be pleased with her) presented a practical image for pure slavery, where she was ascetic, worshipping, kneeling, and prostrating. She was known as the chaste virgin because she did not only screened her body from sights but also secluded people and screened herself from them where she spent all her life in her place of worship.

The one, who ponders over this honorable, may be sure that Mary was given her freedom eternally. The one, who ponders over the freedom that was given to Mary, daughter of `Imran, will find out that her freedom was unlike the freedom we know these days. Women of our time who seek for freedom is talking about the freedom of the body for which conferences and symposiums are held even if these gatherings attract the interest of some Muslims. Why women who seek for freedom limit themselves to the freedom of nudity and covering their bodies, ignoring the freedom of covering, decent clothes, and Hijab, moreover you see some of them oppose these values.

If we assume that speaking about women's freedom is a type of important social sciences, which renaissance cannot be achieved without grasping their concepts, was the subject of women's freedom absent from the thoughts of the intellectuals of prosperous ages which enable them to show up now?!

Why there is much talk about the lost rights of women until we are occupied by weeping beside some people who weep for a fake wall? Or their wicked poisons were sprayed in the face of the lazy people who were in deep sleep for a long time and wasted the glory of our civilization? If the deformed and blind image Of freedom is the utmost hope for the people who do not know Virgin Mary (may Allah be pleased with her), her students ask Allah to give them the power to get rid of chains to surrender themselves to the One and Almighty; because this is the only path of freedom. For those who do not know that way, there is no need to bother himself and others with the slogan of (freedom of women).
