Poor families in big cities?

Verily, the future of humanity is threatened in general because of the increase and spread of poverty.

Because of poverty, marches and plans of development are stumbled and the gap between the rich and the poor is expanding which leads to the removal of the dreams of peoples and countries in reaching a better human level and to lead an honorable life.

Poverty is a human phenomenon of many aspects. It is not only decrease in earning or even rareness in job opportunities, but it is also marginalization to a society class and depriving the poor of participation in decision-making and of social services.

The poverty issue in the world is interlaced with many contemporary issues and all of them are connected with the issues of development and different conditions, especially, the issues of economic rehabilitation which lead to more poverty for the poor.

Therefore, the issue of poverty is embarrassing and depressing because it spreads and increases in many countries in our today's world in a fearful and regular way.

Dr. Muhsin Yusuf in his book "Poverty and the economic crisis" said: The poverty issue and its social, cultural, economic, and cultural accumulation do not only affect the poor countries and its peoples which suffer different levels, but they affect and spread in most country world in a way that could affect the future of humanity.

We are living in the time of world poverty by the emergence of famines, the return of epidemics, the collapse of productive sectors in the developing countries, and emaciation of health and social care.

Poverty is more than just an economic status. Although we measure poverty traditionally by the mean of income, the true hazards of poverty extend to include all features of human life, such as: sickness, illiteracy, ignorance, and the loss of controlling the economic resources.

Therefore, economists identify the limit of poverty by calculating the monetary or in act income which fulfill the basic needs of the family either in term of food only or food, clothes, and abode as well.

Perhaps we find poverty correlated with frustrating the hopes of full generations and spreading the culture of poverty.

Dr. Isma`il Siraj Ad-Din in the book of "Poverty and the economic crisis" said: There is a close connection between the issues of poverty, hunger, food security, environment, and development.

A long time ago discussion among experts took place about whether poverty is a cause or a result to the population growth.

Although there is a powerful relationship between poverty and the speed of population growth rates, but studies could not submit a proof that population growth is the cause of poverty, but confirmed the complicated relationship between them.

The poverty of peoples takes different dimensions such as the economic dimension which includes low levels of income, production, investment, saving, unemployment, the low productivity, the crises of food and energy, and the problems of housing.

The poverty of peoples contains a social dimension represented in the decline of morals' levels and the emergence of different social crimes such as bribe, favoritism, drugs, usurp of money, raping of women, dependence, negativity, and illiteracy.

Dr. Philip `Atiyyah said in His Book "Health problems in the third world": The most developed countries have not get rid of (environments of poverty) where populations aggregate in an inhumane way and need their basic needs such as food, clothes, or healthy houses.

After this, what is the required today?

In short, what we need is:

First, placing money in its proper position by spending it in legal channels, such as: (charity, Zakah, donations, gifts, disbursements).

Second, economic balance which leads to nearness between individuals so that we would not see people who eat to their full on one hand and the poor on the other.

Third, solidarity means that individuals cooperate and help one another to take positive situations and regulate social relationships.

Fourth, integration: where it helps for economic independence and restoring the nation's prestige.

Finally, I would like to say: Economic cure is a matter of skill in treatment that is characterized by flexibility.

A successful economist is like a successful doctor who has the qualities of a creative person more than the qualities of a jurisprudent.
