Surat Al Baqarah (134-135)

{ تِلْكَ أُمَّةٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَلَكُم مَّا كَسَبْتُمْ وَلاَ تُسْأَلُونَ عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ } [البقرة:  134]

134- That was a nation of the past. They have done some deeds which they shall be reckoned for them and you have your own deeds which you shall be reckoned for them. It will not avail you to ascribe yourselves to their righteous people if you do not do righteous deeds as they had done; and you shall not reckoned for their bad deeds.

{ وَقَالُواْ كُونُواْ هُوداً أَوْ نَصَارَى تَهْتَدُواْ قُلْ بَلْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفاً وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ } [البقرة:  135]

135- Some Jews and Christians came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and each team mentioned that they were true and asked him to follow their religion in order to be of the guided as reported in a Hadith with a good chain of transmission. O honorable Prophet, say to them: We and you should return to the religion of Abraham for he was your forefather. The origin of his religion was the pure Islam and he was never one of the polytheists but you are.
