Question

As-Salamu `Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh (May Allah's Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!)

I am a married woman who live in a remote area away from my family. There are no neighbors or friends around, therefore I feel a lot of boredom which affects my life and affects the way I deal with my husband. I always ask my husband to make me establish social relationships even with the wives of his colleagues, but unfortunately, he does not care.

I do not know what to do, for I have fed up of free times, and my husband always goes out with his friends.

I have tried to complete my study, but I did not find any to babysit my daughters until I come back. I asked my husband to help but he does not care for me.

I have become very nervous and I asked for divorce more than once; could you kindly help, for I am very frustrated.

Answer

In the name of Allah. Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and Companions until the Day of Resurrection.

My dear, thank you for your great trust in Alukah Network, and I hope you can get rid of boredom and routine.

It seems you have convinced yourself that being away from the family and lack of friends are the reasons of your routine and boredom in your life. The truth is: The boredom you feel is the lack of your useful work or activity.

There are many methods to break the routine in your life depending on your inclinations and hobbies.

I shall suggest some of them:

♦ You may continue your study via e-mail or on the internet if you have not finished your basic education stage or if you have finished your high school and desire to continue college study or join a school for teaching the Qur'an in the evening. According to my knowledge, there are nurseries in these schools for young children. Also, there are online sessions on every art and in every field, and you only should surf the internet and search for these sites and sessions.

♦ You can start your own small project from home to pass time and get money such as cooking food if you can cook well or other actions you master at home which could busy your time. You should read useful books, for the best companion is the book.

♦ You should not make that matter corrupt and disturb your life. Enjoy with your daughters, spend your free times with them in play and joy, and practicing useful activities with them. Teach them Adhkar and the Qur'an, narrate useful stories to them, enjoy their childhood, for days pass fast and you grow up and they grow up too, so do not waste the moments of your beautiful life in sadness and nervousness, for your life is full of wonderful things which you did not pay attention to. Maintain your husband, and do not spoil your life for trivial matters, and praise Allah for what you have. May Allah guide you to things which He loves and satisfies.
