"And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when drowning overtook him, he said: "I believe that none has the right to be worshipped but He (Allah)" in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allâh's Will)." [Surat Yunus: 90].

Now I have believed! Now I have understood.

"Now (you believe) while you refused to believe before and you were one of the Mufsidûn (evil-doers, the corrupters)." [Surat Yunus: 91].

Would you have done this before?! Have not you known that the time of repentance was over?

Should not you repent before death and before you see the torment.

Have not you known that repentance is not accepted after the sun has risen from the place of its setting?

If repentance had been done before your drowning, you would have been survived along with those who were with you. However, now after the earth has shaken and it is too late, do not you see all those humans? Do you see this tornado?

You showed stubbornness, subjugated bodies and souls to you, and thought that no one will be able to kill you, your stubbornness was the cause of your death. You said insolently: "And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among his people, (saying): O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and these rivers flowing underneath me." [Surat Az-Zukhruf: 51].

Your kingdom, high rank, and soldiers tempted you? "Did he not know that Allâh had destroyed before him generations, men who were stronger than him in might and greater in the amount (of riches) they had collected?" [Surat Al Qasas: 78].

Why did not you take a lesson from those who were destroyed before you while they were more powerful, more in number, and had more money?!

"Have they not travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those who were before them? They were superior to them in strength, and in the traces (which they left) in the land. But Allâh seized them with punishment for their sins. And none had they to protect them from Allâh." [Surat Ghafir: 21].

Have not you considered the bad consequences of the tyrants and the haughty people who were before you such as the people Nuh (Noah), the people of `Ad, the people of Thamûd, the people Pharaoh, and the people Lut? "And Nûh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)." [Surat Al Furqan: 37].

As for the people of `Ad, "So We sent upon them a furious wind in days of evil omen (for them) that We might give them a taste of disgracing torment in this present worldly life. But surely the torment of the Hereafter will be more disgracing, and they will never be helped." [Surat Fussilat: 16].

"And as for Thamûd, We showed and made clear to them the Path of Truth (Islâmic Monotheism through Our Messenger, i.e. showed them the way of success), but they preferred blindness to guidance; so the Sâ'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) of disgracing torment seized them because of what they used to earn." [Surat Fussilat: 17].

Were you greater in kingdom, had a wider sovereignty than them, or were you more powerful than them?! Or you were among those who said: "Saying: "I am your lord, most high."" [Surat An-Nazi`at: 24].

And the other who said: "I give life and cause death." [Surat Al Baqarah: 258].

Then what was his destiny? Did his kingdom last? Where is his power and soldiers? Did his money and properties protect or save him? "And he and his hosts were arrogant in the land, without right, and they thought that they would never return to Us. * So We seized him and his hosts, and We threw them all into the sea (and drowned them). So behold (O Muhammad peace be upon him) what was the end of the Zâlimûn [wrong-doers, polytheists and those who disbelieved in the Oneness of their Lord (Allâh), or rejected the advice of His Messenger Mûsâ (Moses) peace be upon him]." [Surat Al Qasas: 39 - 40].

Abundant money and properties tempted you and covered your sight and insight and made you say as `Qur’an Korah said: "This has been given to me only because of the knowledge I possess." [Surat Al Qasas: 78].

Allah has said the truth when He says: "Nay! Verily, man does transgress (in disbelief and evil deed). * Because he considers himself self-sufficient." [Surat Al `Alaq: 6 - 7].

But what was the bad end of Korah? Did his money save him? The Qur'an narrated to us his bad end: "So We caused the earth to swallow him and his dwelling place. Then he had no group or party to help him against Allâh, nor was he one of those who could save themselves." [Surat Al Qasas: 81]. "And what will his wealth avail him when he goes down (in destruction)?" [Surat Al Layl: 11].

You fought Allah and His Messenger, defied His Legislation and Ordinances, made the prohibited matters lawful, and declared your disbelief, lewdness, and disobedience, and prohibited the callers of the Most Gracious to call to Allah: "Has Allâh permitted you (to do so), or do you invent a lie against Allâh?" [Surat Yunus: 59].

Tomorrow you shall be brought before the King, the Truth, the Mighty, so what will you say then? Do you have an argument or an excuse to use? How many souls you killed? How many people you jailed, displaced, and burnt?

Or you said: "And truly, if We give him a taste of mercy from Us, after some adversity (severe poverty or disease, etc.) has touched him, he is sure to say: "This is due to my (merit); I think not that the Hour will be established. But if I am brought back to my Lord, surely, there will be for me the best (wealth) with Him. Then, We verily, will show to the disbelievers what they have done, and We shall make them taste a severe torment." [Surat Fussilat: 50].

You have taken evil advisors who misled you, they said to you: "No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbor (for each and every help)." [Surat Al Anfal: 48]; they cheated, deceived you, and said: Do not you see your power? Do not you see how many and powerful are we? Then they declared their acquittal of you and said to you as Satan had said to his guardians: "I see what you do not see." [Surat Al Anfal: 48]. You have made your enemy and the enemy of your religion and people a direction to which you directed your face and your heart, strayed from the Straight Path, and took the disbelievers guardians to you rather than the believers, and they said to you: "(By Allah) If you are expelled, we (too) indeed will go out with you, and if you are attacked (in fight), we shall indeed help you." Do you think they have kept their promise to you?

Is there any lessons taken from these stories? Do those rulers in power take a heed from those who preceded them? Do tyrants benefit from these incidents and stop their tyranny and oppression? They should take lessons, reform what they have corrupted, remove oppression, apply justice, and render rights to their owners before they say: "My wealth has not availed me; * My power (and arguments to defend myself) have gone from me!" [Surat Al Haqqah: 28 - 29]. "And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allâh) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Qur'ân], and believes not in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord; and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting." [Surat Taha: 127].
