One of the good things in Islam is that a dying person should, of his own free-will, think of his parents and his next of kin, not in a spirit of injustice to other, but in a spirit of love and reverence for those who have cherished (appreciated, helped) him.

“Prescribed for you when death approaches [any] one of you if he leaves wealth [is that he should make] a bequest (inheritance) for the parents and near relatives according to what is acceptable - a duty upon the righteous.”  (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2/180)

“They ask you what they should spend (in charity).  Say: Whatever you spend that is good is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever you do that is good Allah knows it well.” (Surah AI-Baqarah, 2/215)

“Allah instructs you concerning your children [ie., their portions of inheritance]: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females.  But if there are [only] daughters, two or more, for them is two thirds of one's estate (what is left). And if there is only one, for her is half. And for one's parents, to each one of them is a sixth of his estate if he left children. But if he had no children and the parents [alone] inherit from him, then for his mother is one third. And if he had brothers [and/or sisters], for his mother is a sixth after any bequest (inheritance) he [may have] made or debt. Your parents or your children - you know not which of them are nearest to you in benefit. [These shares are] an obligation [imposed] by Allah. Indeed, Allah is Ever Knowing and Wise.” (Surah An-Nisa’, 4/11)
