One of the most famous axioms in management science is: Man is the most important tool of production.

From this piece of information emerges a wide range of researches which care for studying human psychology and aim to find out ways to stimulate the functional performance and ways for increasing production.

The results of these researches are applied in the world of enterprises and companies in the shape of projects and different programs which seek to develop management, improve efficiencies, and increase production.

Of these projects:

• TQM: Total Quality Management.

• Process Improvement.

• (Process) Reengineering.

• Talent Management.

• Multidisciplinary Teams.

• The Discipline of Execution.

• Customs of the successful who have special abilities.

• Along with a large number of means which encourage the discovery and employment of creative capabilities.

Administration experts praise the effectiveness of these programs and their multiple benefits, but at the same time they remind people of an important basic fact which does not receive enough attention in some enterprises and companies concerned with the pursuit of new methods of administrative development and use the best expertise and specialized consultant firms.

This fact, which many people neglect, is the close connection between the human capacity for production and mental psychology.

The optimal understanding for this close relationship requires a continuous and focused cooperation between the administration of companies and industrial psychology experts.

In this context, we can evaluate the level of this cooperation easily by looking at the nature of the relationship and the extent of communication and consultation with experts.

Needless to say that the fruit of this cooperation, if it exists, is directly proportional to the strength, firmness, maturity, and longevity of this relationship.

The effectiveness of many management development programs will be of low importance when people overlook this important fact and do not act accordingly.

Specialists in psychiatry mention a large number of disorders and mental illness that limit a worker's ability to produce and reduce the effectiveness of some administrative development projects adopted by the facilities.

The most famous examples of the mental disorders that negatively affect production are: Cases of depression, psychological (Depression), or psychosis, but these diseases can be cured in many forms, of which: Low functional production. Specialists in psychiatry remind the people of human resource of the danger of low-functionality detection due to psychological causes, interpreting all cases of low-functionality as a result of laziness, weak capacity, and low vigor. Some administrators may object to this risk by saying: Their specialty is management, not psychiatry.

This saying indicates failure in understanding administration's tasks because real administration is the art of dealing with the production tools, which man is the most important of these tools. This definition shows the importance of dealing with man as a tool of production through the comprehensive management methods that are not limited in its view to physical health, but includes the mental health which has a close relationship with production capacity.

Programs that qualify and train specialists in human resources management should contain some of the basics in industrial psychology to enable them to help specialists in this field, and working with them closely for early detection and treatment of cases of pathological psychology which affect functionality and negatively affect the overall production facilities. This orientation is followed by focusing on the aspects of mental health care in health insurance for workers, or limiting the benefits of insurance and health care to organic diseases, or contracting with facilities or clinics lacking to the presence of psychological doctors and specialists who are highly qualified and experienced, or finding difficulties or obstacles in the way of those in need for this type of health care.

Talking about the need to understand management more comprehensively requires reminding of the close connection between the improvement of mental health and faith in Allah Almighty and following the Sunnah of His Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) based on the basis of science that leads to certainty, and following the appropriate means such as Ruqyah (reciting Qur'an and saying supplications over the sick seeking healing) and experienced drug described by specialists. Let it be known that souls have doctors who are specialists in treating it exactly as bodies and every specialist knows the limits of his experience and his field of specialty. However, in the meantime, he estimates the experience and the field of specialty of others and works with them in harmony to achieve a common goal which is the health of humans in its comprehensive concept.

The correct understanding of the issues of Decree, having trust in Allah, good thinking of Him, and the impact of the acts of worship on behavior and feelings has a great impact on improving job performance and increasing production because it releases the energies of individuals from a lot of psychological concerns and constraints and direct them to improvement, innovation, and distinction.

2- Special Comment  Somalia hunger
Ahmad Khalaf - مصر - 07/08/2011 06:22 PM

I agree with Mahmoud, people in our Arab countries need social help rather than mental health. Al Hamdulilah, we do not suffer mental health as much as the Westerns because of our Islam which solved all mental illness through the Qur'an and the Sunnah, but we need to raise our living standards, political freedom, good hospitals, and so on. We need to feel as humans. Developed world should not think much about mental problems but should think how to support the Arab countries to have its freedom, or at least look at some countries like Somalia and solve their hunger problem rather than the hollow mottoes they raise day and night.

Linking mental health with production is very important, but do you think that we only need mental health to improve production? I think this may go in the developed countries where they do not suffer any living problem. However, in our Arab countries we need a social help also, we need governments to look compassionately to our families and social conditions.
